WELCOMING CONGREGATION AWARD
For the third year in a row, FUMC Willis has participated in the Transforming Churches program and has earned the Welcoming Congregation Award. This award is based on points received for activities permanently placed within our Church’s structure. The points are cumulative, and to receive this year’s award, a total of 300 points was required. Listed below are the activities for which points were assigned:
· Welcoming coordinator/team organized
· Church brochure prepared by Communications
· Hold a community event (Fall Festival/Chili Cook-off)
· Guest material packet given to each guest
· Welcoming center created to serve coffee, juice and donuts
· Church business cards printed
· Designated guest parking expanded
· Greeters stationed at both services
· Quarterly greeter/usher training held
· Name badges for congregation
· Church newsletter sent to guests
· Clergy follow-up—first week
· Guest Welcoming gift (coffee mug with Church logo)
· Map of facilities posted
· First-impression renovation
· Welcoming sign at street
· Interior signs
· Active and up-to-date Web site
· A welcoming message on home page
· Weekly hospitality time
· Accessibility/Inclusivity
· Web site expanded to include “Open Hearts” graphics
· Intentional and ongoing Welcoming Training
· Attend Rethink Church Welcoming training
As of now, we have accumulated 387 points and will be working toward year four’s Welcoming Congregation Award.
